Day One

Overview

During the first day of the Forum participants began the day by having some conversations about their vision for a successful Nebraska by imagining they were so successful several magazines wanted to write about them. They deveoped the table of contents for those magazines by identifying the articles that would be written. Then, after a brief introduction the participants spent some time becoming familiar with some of the global and local trends that are currently impacting the region as well as those that will have some impact in the future. In addition, participants learned abou the initiatives and goals for the three major agencies represented in the event: economic development, workforce development and the education system.

After becoming familiar with the need for change, participants returned to the conversations of the vision for a successful Nebraska. Then the teams worked together to develop specific solutions to future scenatios and developed six year plans to implement those solutions.

The final round of work focused on developing a manifesto for change and priorities employers, workforce development, education and partnerships.
