Some of you may have heard this before.

in the village there was a wise old woman. Some of the children felt she can't possibly be that wise and wanted to test her. One of the young boys said, “I’ve got this bird in my hand and I will ask her if it is dead or alive. If she says it’s alive, I’ll crush it and show her it’s dead. If she says it’s dead, I’ll let it go and she can see it’s alive.”

So they went to the wise woman and the boy approached her.  “Tell me wise woman, is this bird dead or alive?”

The wise woman looked at the boy and said, “Well, it seems the fate of the birds is in your hands.”
